Spokenya 7k Run/Walk
Every July since 2010 Spring of Hope has hosted the 7k Spokenya Run/Walk in Spokane, Washington. Over 500+ participants run or walk the distance most Kenyans walk just to get clean water. The race is capped off with a unique water bucket finishwhere racers can cross the finish line carrying a bucket of water on their heads to experience water retrieval like a true Kenyan. You can participate or volunteer for this amazing event next summer.
The best way to understand and see the work SOHI is doing is to go to Kenya and see it first hand. Every year SOHI sends groups of people to Kenya on vision trips to see the projects up close. David Opap, our founder, is the vision trip leader and personally shows you the different Clean Water projects, Education Opportunities created, Economic Empowerment projects and Spiritual Development happening in the region. You also get to meet and spend time with your sponsor kids on the vision trip. Every vision trip is capped off with a Safari in the Masai Mara Game Park.
SOHI’s four focus areas are Clean Water, Education Opportunities, Economic Empowerment, and Spiritual Development. We have organized committees in the U.S. and Kenya that work together to maintain SOHI’s vision to nurture Christ-centered community transformation in Africa and ensure the execution of SOHI’s Mission of Empowering African Communities with the mindset and resources to alleviate extreme poverty.
